CARNE is an animated documentary series that gathers women and artists across the globe to investigate the relationship of women and non-binary people with their own bodies at different stages of life and how others relate to them. CARNE series was created and directed by Camila Kater.

Synopsis Rare, medium rare, medium, medium well and well done. Through personal and close narratives, women and non-binary people from Brazil, China, Iran, Nigeria, and Spain share stories from childhood to old age about the sometimes ambiguous relationship with their own bodies, and about how they experience the gaze of others.
CARNE series emerged from the idea of expanding the stories of the multi-award-winning short film CARNE (2019) to an international scale. The short CARNE, a coproduction between Brazil and Spain, which is a proof of concept for the series, premiered in 2019 at the 72nd Locarno International Film Festival and was presented in more than 250 festivals, including TIFF, Annecy, IDFA, etc. The short received more than 95 awards worldwide and in 2021, the short was acquired by The New York Times Op-Docs.
“CARNE” has been selected to Mifa Pitches 2024 (Annecy International Animation Film Festival) in the TV Series & Specials category and Camila Kater was selected by LaTam as one of the 5 iberoamerican talents at Annecy 2024.
